About the MJP College of Law:

At first, the ‘Department of Law’ has started its journey in the year 1989 in the than Dr.B.R. Ambedkar Post Graduate Centre, Srikakulam affiliated to Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. In 2008, the A.U.P.G. Centre was upgraded as Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University, Srikakulam. Subsequently in 2016, the ‘Department of Law’ was converted into the ‘Mahatma Jyotirao Phule College of Law’ (MJP College of Law) as per Bar Council of India (BCI) norms. The vision of the MJP College of Law is to create a global legal institution which will compete with the best within and outside India and to prepare lawyers for a legal career that introduces them to wide range of opportunities in legal profession across the globe. Since its inception, produced more than 2500 Law Graduates and a number of Post Graduates in law, many of the students are practicing as advocates at various Courts throughout the Nation. Some of them were selected as Judges, Magistrates, and Assistant Public Prosecutors in Government Services and Law Officers in State Financial Corporations, reputed Multinationals Companies and Banks. The legal profession not only about knowledge of the law and oratory skills but also about ethics, Justice and humanity. Institutions are not market places and education is not a commodity traded on demand and supply. Institutions are knowledge spaces and education is a value in itself to distinguish between fair and unfair, just and unjust, it has to inculcate values like sacrifice, sensitivity to sufferings, Courage to fight for justice and fairness to stand up for the dispossessed and marginalized, determination to stand against the odds for the sake of justice. Prospective lawyers have to be exposed and sensitized to all these issues in order to ensure that they serve the profession with commitment, integrity and excellence.

  • Extension Activity: As a Part of extension activity basing on the principle “Class Room to Common Man”, the MJP College of Law has been organizing “A Free Legal Aid Clinic” for the benefit of the needy people, sensitizing the general public and also resolving various legal issues by going to nearby rural villages of the University Campus on every Saturday
