RIGHT TO INFORMATION ACT, 2005

The Right to information Act, has clear the way for accessing information from the Authority named as Dr. B.R.AMBEDKAR UNIVERSITY, SRIKAKULAM by Public Information Officers (PIOs) through the requesting of writing or electronic forms from individuals.

PARTICULARS:

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Srikakulam is a state university. It was established in 2008 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The university is named Dr.B. R. Ambedkar, who was the father of the Constitution of India. It was established in Srikakulam, one of the district of north coastal region. Over the years University has expanded with offered courses following with educational policies from University Grants Commision. The Academic committee, the Executive Council, the Finance Committee, the Standing Committee, Faculties, Boards of Studies, and Departments are the important institutions of the University which are given with powers of making decisions and further implementation.

  • The Finance Officers and other officials
The Governor of Andhra Pradesh shall be the Chancellor of every University under this act. He shall take the authority as the Head of the whole University when present convocations of the University. He shall perform some other duties under the provision of this act.

DECISION MAKING PROCESS

The University office is the administrative office for the transaction of business of the University and conducts all correspondence relating to the University under the directions of the Vice-Chancellor who is the academic head and Principal Executive Officers of the University exercises general control over its affairs. The University office composes of the following main branches.

  • Accounts Branch
  • Administration Branch
  • Examination Branch

As per Section-5, Chapter-II, A.P. Universities Act, 1991, the following are the Powers, functions and objects of the Universities – Every University established under this Act shall have the following powers, functions and objectives, namely:

  • To provide for instruction and training in such branches of learning as it may think fit.
  • To make provision for research extension programme and for the advancement and dissemination of knowledge
  • To confer degrees and other academic distinctions on persons who have carried on research under conditions prescribed
  • To confer honorary degrees or other academic distinctions on approved persons under conditions prescribed
  • To create posts of Professors, Readers, Lecturers and any other teaching posts required by the University and to appoint persons therefore
  • To create administrative, ministerial and other posts required by the University
  • To acquire and hold property, both movable and immovable, to lease, sell or otherwise transfer any movable or immovable property which may have become vested in or may have been acquired by it, for the purposes of the University and to contract and do all other things necessary for or incidental to the purposes of the University.
  • To institute, take over and maintain colleges and hostels
  • To establish, maintain and manage or to affiliate Honours Colleges, Autonomous Colleges and Postgraduate Centres in any part of the University area outside the University Campus
  • To confer autonomy on affiliated Colleges or Postgraduate Centres in any part of the University area outside the University Campus
  • To transfer any or all the colleges or institutions maintained by the University to the administrative control of the Government on such conditions as it may determine
  • To erect, equip and maintain laboratories, libraries and museums
  • To affiliate or recognize colleges and institutions and to withdraw such affiliation or recognition
  • To inspect affiliated and recognized colleges and institutions and to take measures to ensure that proper standards of instructions are maintained in them
  • To make grants from the funds of the University to affiliated and recognized colleges and institutions
  • To establish, maintain and manage research departments and institutions
  • To make special provision for the spread of higher education among educationally backward classes of citizens
  • To make special provision for colleges and institutions for women students
  • To establish research institutions in any part of the University area whether within or outside the University Campus
  • To fix fees and to demand and receive such fees and other charges as may be prescribed
  • To make grants from the funds of the University for the maintenance of the National Cadet Corps
  • To make grants from the funds of the University for the maintenance of the National Cadet Corps
    1. a Department of Publications;
    2. a University Press;
    3. an Employment Bureau;
    4. an information Bureau;
    5. Boards of University Extension;
    6. Students unions, University Sports and Athletic Clubs; and other similar bodies and associations.
  • To Co-operate with other Universities, educational institutions and authorities in such manner and for such purposes as the University may determine
  • Generally, to do all such other acts and things whether incidental to the powers aforesaid or not, as may be necessary or desirable to further the objects of the University as a residential, teaching and affiliating University, to cultivate and promote arts, fine arts, science, professional studies, technology and other branches of learning and to promote the interests of its students

Rules and Regulations

The activities of the University are governed under Statues, Ordinances, Regulations within the framework of University Act.

Statues

Subject to the Provision of the University Act, the Executive Council shall make statues in respect of constitution, powers and duties of Authorities, Conditions of service of Officers other than Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor.

Ordinances

The Executive Council shall make ordinances subject to the provisions of the University Act and deal with all Academic matters.

Regulations

The Academic Senate shall make regulations in respect of Admissions, Examinations, Exemptions etc.
